I'm a 53 yr old asian female who has just been diagnosed with a iris neves in my left eye, which has not been seen before. It is approx 1 - 1.5 mm in diameter, brown in color. Is this common? What are the chances of this becoming a melanoma? How long would this take?
Hello It seems from the history that you are you are diagnosed with irisnevus. Iris nevus is a common condition and the malignant potential of nevus becoming melanoma are very minimal. However a follow up is required to rule out melanoma. The malignant change is indicated by rapid increase in size, increased pigmentation, formation of new vessels... Hence I advice you to follow up with your doctor at least once in a year to look for these changes and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
