What Causes Kidney Pain, Hives On Face Or Neck ,body Gets Heated Up In A Diabetic Patient?

Dear Doctor,My 57 year old, insulin diabetic brother has only one functioning kidney. He has been advised to have the non-functioning one removed. His problem is that at night, he has a lot of kidney pain, as soon as he lies down, he says his body heats up, and if anything is touching his face or neck, he develops hives and perspires profusely. He does not have TB. What are then more common possible causes for this reaction and is there anything we can do for it? He also suffers from chronic insomnia. The only thing that helps him is a combination of paracetamol, codiene and anti allergy medication, but then, these medications give him more kidney pain and the cycle starts again.

I will agree completely with your brother's condition. I must say that the non functional kidney should be removed as soon as possible.
With the diabetic status, there is a high possibility that he has developed some kind of infection in the kidney that needs to be removed.

Therefore I would suggest that you have his urine routine, urine culture and the ultrasound abdomen tested again. This may help you toll locate the infection. An antibiotic may be prescribed accordingly.
