Smelling in noise can be caused by atrophic rhinitis or because of sinusitis.
Treatment is by treating infarction in sinusitis and keeping the nose moist in atrophic rhinitis.
Do consult ENT doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
How long does it take for smell and taste to return after sinusinfection? Is it common to lose smell and taste during a sinusinfection?
Yes. It is not common but may occur.
This is due the destruction of the olfactory nerve fibers in the nose that sense the smell.
Once the infection is cleared it may become normal after sometime.
But it varies from individual to individual.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have further queries.
Wishing you good health.
How to get rid of sinusinfection
you have take steam inhalation 2 to 3 times daily, avoid nose blocking and avoid common cold.
I will advise you to contact physician and take his opinion and also ENT opinion to rule out deviated nasal septum.
I hope you understood, take care and get well soon.
