Trying To Detox From Heroine Use. Having Withdrawal Symptoms. What Type Of Medication Will Help?

I am trying to detox from heroin on my own at home, what over the counter medications can I take that will help to make the withdrawal symptoms more bareable. My biggest issue is the hot and cold sweats, as well as the shakes and absolute no energy. Please help. Also I am on very limited income so I need something very inexpensive but I really do need it to help, I also have a 5 and a 3 year old at home that I need to be able to get up and take care of which I can not do while I am withdrawaling. PLease help!!!

Hi,

The best option for you would have been clonidine (Catapres) but that is a prescription drug and needs blood pressure monitoring. It is not expensive too and you would need to take it only for a few days. If you cannot get it, try taking paracetamol. It will provide some relief. Also take lots of fluids and try to while away the time. Once the first three days of abstinence are over, things will start getting better.

Best wishes.
