I have been diagnosed with graves disease. My endochronologist has given me option of RAI treatment or surgery. Any advice
Hello, and thank you for your question. If you were my patient, I would likely recommend RAI or one of the other non-surgical treatments. Surgery is useful when one of the non-surgical treatments is not successful. In the hands of a competent surgeon, complications are rare; but can include damage to the vocal cords and/or parathyroid glands, plus the risks associated with general anesthesia.
