What is Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion?

surgical procedure that is used to treat spinal cord compression by decompressing the nerve roots of cervical spine by dissecting the vertebrae and stabilizing them. It is done in cases of pain due to herniated disc or spondylosis. The herniated disc is removed and space is made for the nerve by enlarging the inter-vertebral foramen. a bone graft is added to join the vertebrae(fusion).
