What does a positive Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibody mean
Hello! A positive test may be related with any conditions like, autoimmune hepatitis, Hepatitis B or C, a primary biliary cirrhosis, cholangitis, etc. You need to discuss with a hepatologist about this issue. Greetings!

hello, all blood tests normal but have 1:320 anti smooth muscle antibody. fatigue, mild joint pain and a few monthly small nodules on hand.
Hi Chellan, Thanks for your query. Positive titers indicate conditions like Autoimmune hepatitis type 1, Hepatitis B or C; or problems of the bile system. Very high titers, as in your case, goes in favor of inflammation/damage of the Liver due to a defect of the body's defenses. Consult a Gastroenterologist, who will brief you thoroughly and start appropriate treatment.
