The symptoms narrated by you suggest towards the diagnosis of senile xerosis which means the itching caused by dryness in elderly.
As I am not knowing the type of weather you are living in, answering your question is quite difficult. Also for diagnosing any kind of skin condition you need to have the visual impression of it which will give the exact idea of the lesions & its cause. But as this is not possible, considering the old age as cause following can be done.
You can use mosturiser lotion two to three times a day. Try to cover your body as much as possible by wearing full sleeve dresses & socks. Avoid roaming in sun light excessively. You may use one or two applications of herbal oils. If at all you feel itchy dont scratch by nails doing which will cause the bruising as you are experencing. Instead take a slightly rough piece of cloth or turkish towel and scrub the area gently.
You can have vitamin C 500 mg two times a day to avoid the early bruisability.
And most important get dermatologic consultation done at least once, to rule out the cause other than senile xerosis if any.
