What Are The Symptoms Of Labour Pain In Pregnancy?

Hi I'm 39 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. Last week the baby was 1/5th engaged palpable ?? Iv been having very sharp shooting pains mixed with rectal pressure and tightening on and off for 2weeks, recently 3days have been very intense every evening 10/14mins apart lasting 30secs...I have a bath or go to bed and they are easing off..how long will this last? Am I in early labour? How can I encourage them to continue instead of stopping??

Hello and welcome to HCM forum. As you've already had 2 babies, I believe you are quite experienced in labour pains; however since you've inquired, pain in abdomen or even back and/or thighs accompanied by a tightening of the abdominal walls (contractions of uterus) usually means labour pains have started. However, to be technically correct, this must also be associated with dilatation of cervix, this can be confirmed by an ob/gyn specialist by doing internal(vaginal)examination. So do visit your doctor immediately. Labour in 2nd or 3rd baby may sometimes be a quick occcurrence. I hope this satisfies your doubts.
