i had some sort of infection of a finger. doctor said she thought it was bacterial. she prescribed an antibiotic so that is taken care of but i have lost my fingernail. it is growing back but it is growing back in layers that do not seem to be attaching to the one layer that is closest to the nail bed. i was told that i also had a nail fungus from wearing a bandaid to protect my finger while at work and that the moisture then created an environment for the fungal infection. i do not want to take another prescription drug so have been keeping it clean an dry but think maybe i still have the fungal infection or is the layering just the nail growing back. it is a bit discolored and is peeling away.
