Would Using Castor Oil Drops And Steriod Drops Cure Discomfort In Eyes?

My pingeculae does not respond to over the counter drops at all. If feels like something is in my eye all the time and I keep blinking...I have had this for 10 plus years and it gets worse. Red and now going over my iris. I bought special sunglasses and I hear that castor oil drops and steriod drops can help. Do I need a prescription and what type of doctor do I need to see to get an appointment if needed. I have paid hundreds for appointments and they just state get over the counter and give me a sample.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having pinguecula, a degenerative condition of the conjunctiva. It can cause recurrently inflammations causing symptoms. The treatment is by use of anti-inflammatory drugs in the form of eye drops and oral tablets.
Steroid eye drops should not be used because of risk of potential side effects like glaucoma, cataract...
If pinguecula is causing recurrent problems it can be excised by surgery.
Hence I advice you to consult our ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
