Would Swelling Of The Yolk During Pregnancy Cause Miscarriage?

I tested positive 2 1/2 weeks ago and had my first Dr. Appointment today. My cycles are not regular so it was an guesstimate as to the first day of my last regular cycle was, May 1-5 was my guess. That particular cycle was 2-3 weeks late, however. My Dr did a vaginal ultrasound today, he said I only measured at 6 to 6.5 weeks, but spotted no embryo and said my yolk was slightly swollen, although he did say it was perfectly round and otherwise healthy looking. My question is,can this be normal or am I doomed to miscarry?

Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
Early pregnancy always shows a yolk sac first and then a embryo. there is no need to worry. please repeat a scan after a week by which a perfect embryo and fetal heart beat should be visualised.
gestational sac without a yolksac is more suggestive of miscarriage.
best of luck
hope this was helpful.
you can write back to me if any further queries.
Thanks
