Will The Report Be Correct If There Were No Fasting Before Lipid Profile Test?
I have a friend who is a 27 year old male. He did not fast before his lipid test. His numbers were all good except for triglycerides- 266 and HDL: 37. He has perfect blood pressure, blood sugar, and liver levels. Is this a cause for concern? What are the next steps?
A new report suggests that it is not necessary to fast before obtaining a lipid profile. The results are likely to be the same as compared to conventional fasting method.
His condition can be manged by life style modification and diet changes. He should avoid red meat, high fat milk products. Cook food in olive or canola oil. He should take limited salt in your diet.Avoid fried and junk food.Avoid alcohol & smoking. Take lot of fruits and vegetables. He should also increase his physical activity in the form of walking and exercise. He can also do meditation and yoga.It will help him a lot.
If triglycerides are persistently raised then tablet Fenofibrate 160 mg once daily after dinner can be taken.
Get well soon. Hope I have answered your question.
