Will The Ability To Taste Return After A Cut In The Tongue?

Hello!
Yesterday I cut my tongue so bad it was bleeding. The cut is about 1.5 cm. Today it still hurts and I can't taste anything where the cut is located. Will my ability to taste return? Will my damaged taste buds recover and grow back? Or are they permanently damaged?
Thank you!

thanks for your query, i have gone through your query, if the cut is too big consult your oral physician and get it sutured since it is highly vascular and has tendency to bleed. and suture also increases the healing process. you can apply topical anesthetic and analgesics. the taste buds will regenerate in 7-10days. your taste will come back. nothing to worry. take soft and cold diet. do saline gargling. i hope my answer will help you. take care.
