Will Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pill Cause Infertility?
hi, I m using emergency contraception pills every month and now i can see its effecting me . I want to know I'll get pregnant in future when I want or not as i have read that over use of these pill makes female body infertile permanently. age- 19yr height- 5'4 weight - 49
It is not true that using emergency contraception will make you infertile. It also will have the same effectiveness each time you use it.
BUT, using hormonal medication off and on, or in an unpredictable way, can increase the chance that your ovulation gets unpredictable as well.
This can affect your period and how your body feels. Some women will get pregnant the month after stopping birth control pills, and for others it take a little time for the ovulation cycle and all the hormones needed for fertility to become more regular and predictable again.
Might I suggest that if you are using emergency contraception every month, you might be better protected on consistent birth control method.
Birth control pills are like 98% protective, Emergeny contraception is considered to be around 87-90% effective.
