Will Posterior Placenta With Grade 1 Be A Risk To Baby?

Hi Doctor I am 30 weeks Pregnant and my Amniotic fluid is 10 cm.Also the baby s growth shows 28 weeks and 2 days. Placenta is posterior and Grade 1. Please suggest if my baby is at risk and will I have a pre-mature delivery? I am very much worried. Please help

Hello,
Posterior placenta is the second commonest finding and this need cause concern. If the grading is good enough and the growth of the baby on serial sonograms shows corresponding growth, you need not worry. In the current scenario, there is no reason to worry about preterm labor. Though you are 30 weeks by dates and the baby is 28-plus by sonogram, there should be no worry as this disparity is common. Only serial sonograms can show if there is any growth lag. As such, there is nothing abnormal. Hope this helps.
