Will Menses Affect Blood Sugar Values?

I am type 2 diabetic, my 6 mo checks have always come back good, however this time my protein in my urine came back at 796!! I was in the middle of my menstrual when the test was done, can this have an affect on the test? Also, how can it go to normal 6 months ago and now it is 40x's what it should be, I am very scared.

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
Increased urine protein levels (false positives) may be due to contamination of urine with menstrual blood in females, prostatic secretions or semen in males.A repeat test is advised.
Protein electrophoresis and immunofixation may be required to characterize and interpret the proteinuria. So get the test repeated and be relaxed.Take care!
