Will Fever During Pregnancy Affect Baby?

I'm about 8 weeks pregnant, and the whole time I have had a fever of anywhere between 99.3 to around 99.8. Two days ago my Dr. called in a script for a UTI and I have been taking it faithfully....do I need to worry about how this fever is affecting the baby? I haven't been taking Tylonel....

Hi,
Low grade fever usually does not harm a pregnancy in whatever stage; it is the high or very high fever that is harmful. Please be careful about your genital hygiene as the vagina is very vulnerable to infections during pregnancy and with an urinary tract infection, you need to be extra careful. Please have adequate rest, good diet and adequate water. Make sure that you have been prescribed medication safe in pregnancy; Tylenol can be used in pregnancy. Hope your query has been classified. Wish you good health.

OBGYN Dr. Deepti Gupta's  Response
Hi
This fever is not going to harm the baby. If you have fever below 100 there is no need to take tylonel. But it is really important to take the antibiotics for the UTI. UTI in pregnancy can lead to kidney infection and also preterm birth.
All the best.
Let me know if you have any more queries.
Thanks
