Why Would Both The Colostomy Bag And The Ileostomy Bag Have Produced Waste After A Diverticulitis Surgery?

recently had surgery for diverticulitis had issues had another surgery and now i have a colostomy bag and a ileostomy bag however im producing waste in both bags i was told that the ileostomy would not produce waste think someone may have messed up the surgery

Hi,

It is possible that you had a Hartmann's procedure with end colostomy. A later operation with end ileostomy formation would mean that the fecal matter goes in the ileostomy bag, but there may be residual fecal matter in your colon that empties through your colostomy.
