Why Was Norglen Tablets Prescribed When Had Irregular Periods After Delivery?

Is Norglen tablets used to get periods or to extend periods, after delivery in may 31, i got my perios back on sept 7th, but on october i am missing my periods,hence worried and doctor asked me to take norglen tablet for 5 days, but not yet received my periods back

Hi,
Norgen tablets contains norethisterone, which is a progesterone.
After delivery, irregularity in menstrual cycles can be seen due to hormonal imbalance.
This is more common in lactating women.
Progesterone tablets help in inducing bleeding by causing withdrawal effect.
Sometimes it may take 7 to 10 days to get the withdrawal bleeding after completing the course of progesterone pills.
So, wait for few more days.
Possibly you will get withdrawal bleeding soon.
If you do not get periods even after one week, the possible causes are :
- Inadequate dosage of progesterone pills
-Deficiency of both estrogen and progesterone
-Possibility of pregnancy etc.
