My Father (75 yrs) had bi pass surgery 2 yrs back and also suffering from diabetes. He has been taking insulin of 15 units from more than a month but his sugar level could not controlled. It simply fluctuate around 350. Earlier it was under control most of the time (under 200). What better steps can eb taken now. Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,
Noted your concern. You mentioned that your dad is taking 15 units insulin. You have not mentioned the type of insuin and time you dad injects it. In type 2 diabetes, slowly the pancreas fuction deteriorates and you may need to increase the frquency/change the type of insulin and may have to increase the dose of insulin gradually. You may have to do more detailed blood tests like FBS, Postprandial blood sugar and HbA1c. Please meet you local doctor with these reports. Other wise you have an option to contact an endocrinologist including myself in the paid section of Healthcaremagic
