Why Is My Child Liking Bottle Milk While Suffering From Croup?
Hi my 21 month old woke was rushed in hospital short of breath yesterday morning, he was diagnosed with croup given a shot of steroid medicine and sent home. Apart from a lot of coughing last night he seemed fine again. Now he has just been sick but it does not look like it normally does when he is ill. It was like water with thick bits of a gone off milk like substance. Is this normal? He normally has cows milk in a bottle twice a day, but today all he wants is bottles so he has had 4. Thank you
If I am right, did you mean he vomited and the vomitus looked like off milk? If so its okay. If he keeps vomiting after a bout of cough, then its most likely that he has wheeze and he needs to be treated with bronchodilators like salbutamol or terbutaline for 5 days atleast. Cough more at night indicates he has a wheeze.
And when kids are sick, they do not eat well. So if he drinks well and passes urine to a minimum of 4 to 5 times during a day, then you need not worry.
But at any point of time if you feel he has breathing difficulty, then you must visit your doctor again.
Hope my answer helps. Wish your son a speedy recovery.
