Why Is LH Response Increased In Central Precocious Puberty?

i m confused about the Leuprolide stimulation test....I dont get why in central precocious puberty the LH response is increased....if the problem is at the level of the hypothalamus shouldn t administering leuprolide actually decrease the levels of LH?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. In majority of cases of central precocious puberty, there is no identifiable cause. There is an increase in the LH response to Gonadotropin releasing hormone or GnRH. Other hormone levels are also raised in response and this feature differentiates the central variety from the peripheral. Thus, GnRH triggered LH response is tested. Coming to your query, the Leuprolide, an analogue to GnRH, acts in a similar way and triggers LH response in those with the condition. Please remember, the hypothalamo-pituitary and the gonadal axis has a natural negative feedback mechanism which is disturbed in precocious puberty of the central variety. Hope your query has been clarified. Take care.
