Why Having Bleeding After Taking Unwanted 72 After Unprotected Sex?

Hi..I am 34 yrs.girl. My periods usually gets start on around 9-10th of every month. I had a sex first time on 24th Dec.This intercouse was unprotected and sperm got discharged inside me. After 6 hours of this, i took an unwanted 72 pil.Next day (25th Dec) there is some bleading started from my private part and it become heavy bleading after next day onwards which was continue till 5th Jan.Today is 31st jan and My periods did not start yet.This is somethg to worry about or how can i check about my pregnancy.. tell me the best way out for this..I m very tensed.. please help me as soon as possible..

Hi,

According to your description the possibilities are:
- The inter menstrual bleeding you got from 25th December could be due to the withdrawal effect of the emergency contraceptive pill.
- Second rare possibility is post coital tear leading to bleeding.

Now, you can go for blood test for pregnancy once, which can accurately find out the possibility. If the test gives a negative result, you can wait for one more week and possibly by that time you can get the periods.

If you do not get periods, even after one week, better to go for tablets to induce withdrawal bleeding.
