Why Have I Not Started Menstruating Despite Having Taken Meprate?
Hello doc..... My wife had past 12 days of period date. Have already gone twice with urine test an it was negative. We concerned to a Gyanic and she recommended meprate for 3 days thrice a day. She had already completed the course an its third day after completion. But still doesn't got her periods. Can you please help me out with the reasons for same. Thanks ....
Hi, Thanks for the query. The possible causes for not having periods even after taking tablets are: -Sometimes after stopping progesterone tablets it may take around 7 to 10 days to get the withdrawal bleeding. -Imbalance of both estrogen and progesterone hormones. -Sometimes urine pregnancy test kit may give false negative results. So wait for one more week. Possibly by that time she will get withdrawal bleeding. If she do not get periods even after one week, consult your gynecologist and get evaluated. If she recommends go for ultrasound once. Ultrasound helps in ruling out the possibility of pregnancy and in measuring the endometrial thickness. Then if your doctor recommends you can go for combined hormonal pills. Take care.
