Why Embryo Is Not Seen In Intravaginal US During 5 Weeks Pregnancy?

I m very depressed, I was about 4/5 weeks pregnant, I went to see the obgyn, she did intravaginal us and couldnt see the embryo, since I complained of abdominal pain she sent me for labs and said my level was high enough to see an rmbryo, she send me for intensive us and all they could see was a sac, could I possibly had an empty sac?

Hi,
The gestation sac can be visualized at 4 weeks gestation and fetal pole and fetal cardiac activity can be visualized at 5-6 weeks of gestation through a trans-vaginal sonogram with good resolution and an experienced sonographer. In the current scenario, since your serum beta-hCG titres are good enough, serial titres are helpful to know the progress. If titres double every 2-3 days, the pregnancy is progressing well. This can be coupled with serial sonograms to know the growth. Take adequate rest, avoid stress and have a healthy diet. Take care.
