Why Does My Rectum Bulge Outward Unceremoniously?

I have noticed in the past month after going to the bathroom (#2) that my rectum is bulging outward. I have no pain, blood , etc. When I get into the shower I can bend over and use finger to push it back. I am a 44 yr male, not gay, never had anal sex. Should consult my physician and what is this?

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hi,

The bulging rectum could be because of:

- hemorrhoids
- prolapse of rectum.

I suggest to consult a proctologist to determine the right diagnosis and to start treatment as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, I advise to :

- avoid constipation
- drink more water
- eat foods high in fiber
- do not strain too hard and too long while passing the motion
- do not keep breathe when passing the stool

Hope it helped!
