Why Does Airways In Nose Gets Blocked After Laying Down Post Lung Surgery?

I have blocked airways in my nose as soon as i lay down...it gradually gets worse until my nose can no longer breathe. I ve never had this issue before in my life, but it started around 3 years ago after I had lung surgery. I am guessing whatever they stuck through my nose to complete the surgery (camera or tubing maybe), it destroyed the passageways to a point where I m fine standing or sitting up, but laying down sideways or flat and it s just awful trying to get a good nights sleep. I finally broke down and bought some nasal spray and it works, but I do not want this as an answer. Is it possible the surgeons did something to cause this?

Hello,

What lung surgery you have been undergone? Which anesthesia they have been given? Possible causes are like post general anesthesia there will be congestion some times sinusitis also will be there. It may be due to allergy or infection. It may be due to congestion. So use water vapour inhalation thrice a day for five days. Get it done X-ray (paranasal sinuses), it may not related to the surgery. If symptoms have not improved, please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
