Why Does A Pregnancy Test Say Negative Despite A Confirmed Pregnancy?
2 months ago I took a pregnancy test that came up positive. I had all the symptoms of pregnancy. I started bleeding badly so I assumed I had a miscarriage. I took a different brand test a month later and it came up negative. I missed my period, and my stomach looks huge but I lost weight and have hardly been eating. My breasts are still killing me, and I don\ t feel myself. Not sure what\ s going on or why a test would say negative if I was still pregnant (COULDNT have gotten pregnant after that it was a one time thing)
In fact the results of the tests are quite congruent with whatever your history suggests.
Initially, your pregnancy test results were positive and you were pregnant. Subsequently you started bleeding vaginally and then you have noticed the pregnancy tests results negative which clearly indicate that you had a miscarriage.
Now you have again missed your period and are having breast symptoms and nausea suggesting the possibility of pregnancy. The chances of a fresh pregnancy has to be considered. You seem to be quite confident about no possibility of fresh pregnancy. Your pregnancy test is now negative. Pregnancy test done too early (within first week of missed period) may report false negative. If the test is repeated after about 4 days again, it will give you reliable results. Else, you may opt for Beta hCG test which gives very reliable results even few days before missing a period.
I hope this helps you.
