Why Are Cervical Biopsy And Chemical Cauterization Done During Colonoscopy?

I was sent by my family doctor to have a colposcopy. During the colposcopy, without discussion or consent I was given a cervical biopsy and a chemical cauterization. I was not informed of what either procedure entailed and was not prepared for the pain nor the emotional trauma that followed. Further, I was given no explanation by the doctor doing the procedure why he felt it necessary to proceed with both of these procedures. My family doctor had already ruled out cancer but my cervix has been sensitive during sexual intercourse at different times in my menstrual cycle and we wanted to investigate further. The entire visit was very fast and I was out the door without a chance to react or question what had just happened. Now I am wondering what my recourse is after this event. I appreciate any information you can provide and any advice you can offer on how I should now proceed with both the doctor that performed this procedure as well as my family doctor.

Hello,
nO, IT IS NOT MANDATORY PROCEDURE TO TAKE A CERVICAL BIOPSY AND PERFORM CHEMICAL CAUTERISATION without the patient's consent. This was not to be done and the doctor's action should be condemned.
