Why Am I Still Having Bleeding After Abortion On July 17th?
Hi! I had an abortion June 17th and still is experience some bleeding ranging from light to heavy. Last week was heavy the entire week and this week is medium to light flow. When will it stop because I was told 4-6 weeks and it s been over that? How will I know when the real cycle is present if I don t have any discomfort? I didn t do a follow up with my doctor.

i can understand your concern.
i would like to know, after how many weeks of gestation the abortion happened. longer the gestational period, longer would be the bleeding period.
as you have mentioned the bleeding usually take 4 to 6 weeks to subside completely.
in a few cases upto 8 weeks bleed is also seen, so donot panic .
have you got a repeat ultrasound scan done?? if not please get a scan done to see whether the uterus is completely evacuated or not.
if there are no retained products there is no reason to worry the bleeding would subside in a few days.
tab tranexa(tranexamic acid) 500mg thrice daily can be taken for five days to reduce the bleed.
get your hemoglobin checked for anemia.
tab orofer xt( iron and folic acid) is also advised twice daily for three months.
eat a proper healthy diet which should include green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits.
try to be as stress free as possible, as this also prolongs the bleed.
consult your gynecologist for a physical evaluation.
