Why Am I Not Getting Menses After Taking Meparte Tablets?
Hi Doctor, i have irregular periods from past 2 yrs and i had my last periods on 17th July, i have taken pregnency test on 19th august and its negative and its been 4 days that i finished my meparte tablets and still my periods are due, please suggest

You are not getting your periods after taking Meprate (medroxyprogesterone). You suffer from irregular periods since 2 years. You had pregnancy test done and it came negative. It's been 4 days you have stopped taking Meprate and periods didn't come. Period normally starts within a week of finishing Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone) tablets. Since it is only 4 days, you should wait for some more time, do not stress, do not get anxious. Sometimes, in rare situations it can take 15 days for period to start.
In case it is over 15 days since the last dose & you don't get periods you should visit a Gynae, get USG done to detect ectopic pregnancy / pregnancy, thickness of endometrium or any other medical condition. Meprate is effective only if your endometrial thickness is good, ≥ 7mm. If there is strong suspicion of pregnancy no harm will be done if you do a repeat pregnancy test. Meprate will not induce period if you are pregnant.
