If discomfort is recently started it may be due to acute pharyngitis or tonsilltis,
If it is of long duration you consult oral surgeon for examination and investigation.
For tonsillits you go for antibiotic and anti inflammatory course.
Do salt water gargle,
Avoid Guthkha and smoking.
