White Patches In Throat, Stuffy Nose, Difficulty Breathing, Dry Throat. Associated With Strep?

I went to the doctor the other day and she said i had strep , she didn t do a swab or anything just looked and saw the white patches in my throat . the problem is I have an extremely stuffy nose , can t breathe through it at all, so at night I have to breathe through my mouth which causes my throat to dry up and I have to get water about every 20mins. is the stuffy nose associated with the strep? and is there anything I can do so I can get some sleep, been on antibiotics for a couple days and my fever is gone by my throat is just as (if not more) swollen.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
HI I have gone through your mail and as you said you have whitish patches in your throat, stuffyness and blocked nose, soreness in throat, and painful degulitition.by considering these symptoms, I am suspecting that you are having acute upper respiratory tract infection involving nose and paranasal sinuses, throat, may be involving tonsils also, for managing your this problems you should go for these basic investigations- (1) C.T.scan of paranasal sinuses (2) Culture & sensitivity of throat swab (3) X-Ray chest (4) Blood-CBC, ESR, bood sugar (5) urine-routine and microscopic. beside this good clinical examination by your E.N.T.doctor is recomonded to collect relevent clinical findings and by there co-relation with investigations will made us to reach the correct diagnosis than only final treatment is possible. Thanks.
