Which Other Anti-anxiety Drug Should Be Taken Instead Of Xanax?

Xanax x 28yrs at 1.5mg QD...severe memory losses...have affective disorders of panic, GAD, major depression. The drug worked well at first, not so well now. No panics but anorexia, insomnia, olfactory and gustatory hallucinations on occasion. 2013: acute cardiac ectopics (12-15K/day), A fib x 2, many, many physical S&S. Tapered off it over 5-6 months few years ago...panic two days later. Back on it for the duration at 73yrs. Xanax seems much less effective at same dose. Can't increase or worsening memory losses? Seeing a psychiatrist for some years. Any other anti-anxiety drug that can be taken with Xanax w/o unacceptable sides? Suggestions?

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. Anxiety is fear of something which may or may not be true or may or may not happen in the future. Anxiety is known to produce so many weird symptoms which has no physiological back up. They tend to be just obsessive.

You should know that these problems are not mental diseases, but are mental disorders. Many researches and researchers confirm that medicines alone cannot cure mental disorders. Exercise, Life style changes, change in thinking pattern, relaxation etc are as essential as medicines. Psychotherapy can help you changing your lifestyle and thinking patterns. Yoga and meditation help you to streamline your metabolism and neurological balance.

Start with these simple steps

Step 1 - Practice Deep and full breathing whenever possible
Step 2 - Drink plenty of water and fruit juices.
Step 3 - A Tomato a day keeps anxiety at bay
Step 4 - Exercise regularly
Step 5 - Learn to think positively

I can help you in this aspect. Psychotherapy techniques should suit your requirement. If you require more of my help in this aspect, Please post a direct question to me in this URL. http://goo.gl/aYW2pR. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe the needed psychotherapy techniques.

Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications.
