When Will My Period Start After Taking I Pill?
Actually my periods date was 19 to 22 of this month but still it s not start and last night I had an unprotected sex with my partner n before 24 hours today I took I pill for the first time how safe it is??? After taking I pill when my periods will start

Hi,
I-pill is a post coital emergency contraceptive pill which contains Levonorgestrel. It is a very reliable and safe post coital contraceptive. These pills can prevent the pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of the unprotected sex. Any sex performed after the consumption of the pills is not protected by the pills. These pills have following after effects:
1. Few days after the consumption of the pill, some bleeding may occur which lasts for a couple of days and stops by itself. This does not need any medical attention.
2. The period following the pills may get delayed for few days to a week. Subsequently the period appears. So you may not be concerned about few days' delay in menses after I-pill.
Still if you want to confirm your pregnancy status, you may:
1. Perform pregnancy test on overnight morning first urine sample a week after the missed period; earlier the test may report false negative results.
2. Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test on urine.
