When Do We Need To Take Second Dose Vaccination For Chicken Pox?

Dear sir
My daughter is 8+ yrs old and had the first dosage of chicken pox ammunisation in Jan 2011 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia since we moved from there to Houston. Recently her school asked her to get the second dose.
My question is does it really necessary or does it alright to have it again in about 8months intervals ?
My thinking is the first dose shoud be able to provide immunisation and protection for few years therefore why need the second dose within period of time?
What does the second dose actually do on top of what the first dose suppose to do.. Is it ok to get the second dose later in 2 years time instead.

Second dose augments the efficay of first dose thus making it effective for longer time.
I recommend you to take to take 2nd Dose ASAP.
As it will help your child build protection for another 4 to 5 years.
