Dear Iesha, Welcome to Healthcaremagic!
You might be having simple dandruff (or pityriasis capitis), or more likely, as per your symptoms of soreness, scalp psoriasis is also a diagnostic possibility. I recommend as follows:
1) For dandruff, use a good anti-dandruff shampoo (like Nizral) 3-4 times a week (keep it in your hair for 10-15 minutes before washing off).
2) Massage your scalp with plain coconut or olive oil.
3) Get your Hb tested-- if anaemic, please start iron tablets & take a nutritious diet.
I hope this should help you. But if it does not lead to improvement, get a dermatological opinion as you may require prescription medication, if you have psoriasis. Good luck.
