What To Do If Abcess On Neck Has Increased After Removing The Pus In A Koch's TB Patient?

My mom (age- 57;height - 5 feet 4inches;weight-60kg; normal blood pressure, no diabetes, no other medical history)has been diagnosed with cox tb.she has an absess on the neck.doc mentioned that this is due to some food or milk article consumed has given medicines.due to the medicines the absess has generated pus.is the treatment on the right track?are these indications of recovery ?the absess has increased after removing the pus.hence the doubt on whether its going in recovery or not.

I can understand your concern.
No, this is not suggestive of improvement.
With treatment, either the size of abscess should remain same or should decrease.
But since it is increasing, this is not sign of improvement.
Sometimes, there is infection with drug resistant tubercular bacteria. In this case, even with routine anti TB drugs, patient is not improving.
Another cause for this is secondary bacterial infection. Sometimes along with tb infection, there is infection with other bacteria. So we have to give other broad spectrum antibiotic along with anti tubercular drugs.
So better to consult tb specialist and get done abscess fluid culture and sensitivity report to rule out above mentioned causes.
