What To Do For The Swelling And Block In The Nose?

swollen mucous membrane I ve been suffering for almost two years from my nose where it gets swollen and feels clogged specially when laying down, which makes me unable to sleep and constantly tiered. and i noticed the colder air i breath the more redness inside accrues mixed with blood, then my nose gets swollen more from the inside which gives me difficultly in breathing. My nose is overly dry with no mucous. the only way i can have few hours of sleep is by using the nosal spray Xylolin. I did two surgeries now for reduction in the glans but felt no changes at all.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I can understand the problems you must be going through in spite of 2 surgeries in nose.
Since you have not given any details about the nature of surgeries it would be difficult for me to comment on this part.
These may be correction of the deviated nasal septum and reduction of turbinates.
Sometime the symptoms can be attributed to empty nose syndrome in which there is no actual blockage but you feel so.
The best way is the following:
Consult another ENT Surgeon for an independent ENT Examination, nasal endoscopy, CT scan of nose and sinuses.
This may help to know whether there is anything that can be treated surgically.
Continue Xylolin nasal drops as this is helping you in relieving the symptoms.
Stress and anxiety are also known to give or enhance the symptoms like you have. Hence control of these helps a lot in management.
This is also called vaso-motor rhinitis.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
