What To Do For The Lack Of Libido?

Dear Dr. Samuel,
I am 47 years old, and had the mirena coil fitted in November 2012.I hav e pretty much stopped bleeding now except for now and then. The main problem I have with it is not lack of libido, which I am grateful for as I am sexually active with my partner.
It is the lack of sensation I am very much bothered with. I used to get easily aroused when my nipples were touched and I also orgasm easily. That has changed unfortunately and it has nothing to do with my partner, he is a great lover. Can you explain why and please advise? Thank you.

Hello,
It is my pleasure to answer your query.
I had gone through history and understand your concern.
A common complaint for many women is the loss of libido, or sex drive.
Often this symptom is associated with menopausal age.
As you are having mirena (Harmone releasing IUD),one of the side effect of mirena is loss of libido, remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication device because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
But there are several reasons for the loss of libido but it can be overcome by following measures.
1.Good sleep.
2.Do gentle exercise in the evening.
3.Yoga provides a nice sense of relaxation for the mind.
4.Body Massage.
5. Vitamin B complex
5.Eating a healthy diet
6.If depression is an issue, this should be discussed with your physician.
Hormones like DHEA and Testosterone may be low in women well before menopause has started.
For taking these hormones you need to take the consultation of your gynecologist.
Hope i am able to clarify all your doubts.
Thank you.
