What To Do For Skin Rash And Itching If Betnovate Cream In Stopped?

Hello DOc, I have been using Betnovate skin cream for a very long time, without any particular skin cream. I just used to use it as a night cream. NOw when i discontinue the use, i get eashes and itching. How can i get relief from it as i dont want to use betnovate any more. Also, would the long term use affect my fertility as I am ttc from quite some time now?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Betnovate is a Steroid based cream and long term use of it has deleterious effects on the skin and can lead to skin thinning, itching, pimples , excess hair growth on face and dilated veins under skin..

The symptoms that you are experiencing of rashes and itching seems to be due to withdrawal effects of the Steroid as your skin has become used to it..

I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can advise you a tapering method of withdrawal of cream use..
You can be advised to continue the use of cream for a week daily followed by using it every alternate day and then gradually tapering and stopping completely to avoid the withdrawal symptoms..
You can also take anti histamine like Levocetrizine for reducing itching and rashes..
Do cool compresses over face..
