What To Do For Pathological Fracture In Old Age With Low Bone Mass?
Hi, Hello Doctor, I am from Rourkela,India,My father 58,got a pathological fracture yesterday in his humourous bone in hand,he has diabetis,and he had chest pains(now less),doctors said,his bone mass is too less to hold a plate for the orthopedic surjery, and my grandfather died of multiple myeloma,he has no medical insurance,he is public sector employee(SAIL) in India,SAIL ,please suggest urgently,what to do? Please suggest the best treatment/hospital where we can take him. Thank you, Regards, Amrita

If the fracture is pathological, we have to look for any focus of malignant lesion in the body. A PET scan will be ideal. The fractured segment must be fixed. Consult an orthopedic and he will direct you accordingly.
