What Should Be Done To Relieve The Pressure And Make The Vein Go Back To Its Normal Size?

Hi I have a throbbing vein in my temple that is causing me to have a headache. This has only come on in the last two days after spending the day out in the sun digging. Is it the sun that has caused it (I have had this in the past), and what can I do to relieve the pressure and make the vein go reduce back to its normal size? (I feel Quite relaxed, with no anxiety).

The condition you mention seems more like an artery pulsating in your temple. Along with headache, it fits into the picture of a condition called Temporal arteritis. You should see your Doctor who can examine you and advice or get an opinion of a Rheumatologist. It is common in women around the age of 50years. The treatment would entail some steroids and anti inflammatory medicines. Do let me know if I can help you further. You can contact me directly by using the 'Ask a Specialist' icon. Take care,
