Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My 4 year old boy fell and hit his head on the left side. He cried and calmed down but he s usually tough to the pain. He has a bump behind his ear about an inch large and I put ice on it. He was calm and we put him to bed but I m worried with all the stories you read about head injury that it might be serious even if it doesn t look like it. Should I wake him up and take him to the ER to have him checked?
Hallo . Thank you for asking this question . I will do my best to help you . That bump must be hematoma [ collection of blood ] . It will go with the time , sometimes 4 weeks . Observe him for other symptoms like vomiting , abnormal behaviour , excessive sleepiness etc for 24 hour . If everything is fine , nothing to worry . But if you find any abnormal symptoms , please consult doctor . Hope I have answered your query . For further questions please contact .
