What Should Be Done For The Constipation After Back Surgery?

My husband just had back surgery on Tues. Jan.7, and is constipated. He has been taking hydrocodone and a muscle relaxer. He has not had a bowel movement since Tues. morning and it is Fri. night. He has had 2 doses of Milk of Magnesia today but no luck yet. What should we do?

HI.
In such conditions one should first get the enema so as to evacuate the bowel and lessen the distress one can have, as the patient has undergone surgery.
Continue with milk of magnesia
