What Should I Do If The Nuvaring Falls Out?

Hi I have a question about nuvaring. I'm 25 and I've been using nuvaring for a few years. I had intercourse on Saturday and apparently my nuvaring fell out. But I just realized it today when I got my period and I checked and the nuva ring wasn't there. What should I do? Do I put a new one right away?

Hi,

If the vaginal ring accidentally falls out, it is generally advised to rinse the ring with cool or warm (not hot water) and reinsert it within three hours. Since you have mentioned that few days have passed without the ring, I would suggest you to insert a new ring right away. I would also suggest you to use a backup contraception for a week, if the expulsion occurs during the first or second week of vaginal ring use.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
