Raspa or commonly known as curettage is a surgery done to clear the uterus. In you case it appears that it was advised for incomplete abortion. The remaining products of conception have to be removed otherwise there is risk of alarming bleeding. Initially Obstetricians try with some medicines which make the uterus contract and throw away the products if any. However, when this does not work, curettage or Raspa operation has to be performed to remove the left over products of conception inside the uterus.
If your friend also is having incomplete abortion like you had, please counsel her on cooperating with the Obstetrician and get Raspa done if advised.
