What Medicine To Take For Scabs Of Shingles?

I am 80 yrs old. was diagnosed with shingles on18th of March. Was given Famciclover - 21 tab to be taken for 7 days. Now the rash is dry with no discharge. My query is -- When will the scabs come off? And what care should I take after that? Is any medication required after the scabs come off? Thanks H. Tamboowala

Hi,

Scabs will usually take 2-3 weeks to fall off. You can apply topical antibiotic like Neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily. Don’t try to pick the scabs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
