What May Be The Reason For Not Responding On Voice In Newly Born?

My grandson is almost 6 weeks old. He was born at 39 weeks by C-section because he would not turn due to the umbilical cord around his neck. He weighed 6lb. 13oz. He is breast fed and bottle fed. My concerns are, he sleeps alot, he is not smiling, he doesn t seem to follow our voices when we talk to him or seem overly awake. We are quite concerned about this.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to us.
I suggest you to get a new born screening test for hearing to rule out hearing issues. regarding his weight and feeding, they are fine, but strongly recommend for a new born hearing test. thank you.
